Annelise Heinz is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Oregon's College of Arts and Sciences. She specializes in modern U.S. history with a focus on gender, race/ethnicity, and sexuality intersections. Her groundbreaking work on mahjong's transnational journey earned the Pacific Coast Branch Book Award and Oregon Book Award finalist recognition.
Research & Teaching: Dr. Heinz explores lesbian feminist community-building through her upcoming book Collective: How Lesbian Feminists Reimagined Society and digital public history projects mapping 1970s-90s LGBTQ networks. She teaches courses on women's history, queer history, consumerism, and ethnic studies.
