Anneli Loepp Thiessen

Anneli Loepp Thiessen is Teaching Lecturer in Music at CMU, researching gender representation and agency in religious musical contexts through ethnomusicological approaches. Her interdisciplinary work analyzes worship music practices, publishing diversity, and intercultural dynamics in congregational song.

Awarded the George Procter Prize and Schüssler Fiorenza New Scholar Award, Thiessen composes for worship communities and contributed to the Voices Together hymnal. As co-director of Anabaptist Worship Network, she promotes inclusive worship practices and diverse music education through publications like The ABCs of Women in Music.
