Anneke MA Kneppers

Anneke MA Kneppers is a PhD candidate and PartTime Lecturer in pedagogy at the Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). She teaches core courses including MGLU2512 (Pedagogy and Student Knowledge 2), MGLU4515 (Pedagogy and Student Knowledge 4), and PPU4602 (Pedagogy) for teacher education students. She served as representative for temporary academic staff on the department board (ILU) from 2021-2023.

Her educational qualifications include:

• Master's degree in Child Research with fieldwork conducted in Ghana
• Formal qualification as a primary school teacher with classroom experience in the Netherlands and Norway

Her research examines how pedagogical practices interact with students' social backgrounds in primary education, employing critical pedagogy frameworks to address educational inequality. She investigates identity formation in diverse classrooms through ethnographic methods, focusing on how teachers' regulative practices affect learning outcomes in socially heterogeneous urban settings. Her work bridges theoretical pedagogy with practical classroom applications, emphasizing equity-focused teaching strategies for varied socioeconomic contexts.

Her 2022 publication in the British Journal of Sociology of Education represents her doctoral research on contrasting classroom compositions in Norway, revealing how social class dynamics shape pedagogic interactions and student identities. This work establishes connections between macro-level educational inequality and micro-level classroom practices through detailed observational analysis.

As a PartTime Lecturer, she does not supervise graduate students. Her professional engagement extends beyond teaching through volunteer educational projects in Uganda and Namibia, demonstrating commitment to global educational equity.
