Anne Scott Wilson serves as Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow at Deakin University's School of Art and Performance, where she bridges academic scholarship with active artistic practice. She is a core member of the interdisciplinary #VacantGeelong research collective involving artists and architects across Deakin's School of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology.
- PhD in Visual Arts, Monash University (2009)
Wilson's research critically examines the relationship between movement, algorithms, and power structures through visual art media including video, sound, photography, and installation. Her practice integrates emerging technologies to challenge how algorithmic systems shape human perception and social dynamics, often manifesting in collaborative public performances with community choirs, dancers, and street poets. Recent projects deploy AI-driven systems to interrogate hidden power dynamics in motion-based interactions.
Supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, Wilson collaborates with programmers and performers to develop innovative works using drones and new film techniques. Her artistic output is represented internationally by Conny Dietzschold Gallery across three continents, with works held in significant public and private collections globally.
As an educator, Wilson mentors students within Deakin's art and performance programs while maintaining a rigorous exhibition schedule. Her #VacantGeelong affiliation facilitates cross-disciplinary research connecting artistic practice with built environment studies, demonstrating her commitment to collaborative knowledge production beyond traditional academic boundaries.
