Anne Schuurman is an Associate Professor in the Department of English and Writing Studies at the University of Western Ontario, where she serves as Chair of Undergraduate Studies in English. Her research focuses on late medieval literature, particularly the works of Chaucer and Langland, and explores intersections of religious culture, affect theory, and economic thought in fourteenth-century England.

Schuurman's scholarship examines penitential emotions like shame and guilt in Chaucer's narrative poetry, with publications in The Chaucer Review, Studies in the Age of Chaucer, and PMLA. She is currently developing a book on medieval conceptions of debt.
