Dr. Anne Poljak is an Adjunct Professor at UNSW Sydney’s School of Psychiatry, affiliated with the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA). Her research focuses on Alzheimer’s disease mechanisms, proteomics, lipidomics, and biomarker discovery. She holds a PhD from UNSW and a Bachelor of Science with Honours from the University of Sydney. Dr. Poljak collaborates closely with Prof. Perminder Sachdev, exploring molecular pathways in neurodegenerative diseases and translating findings into clinical applications. She has supervised students in proteomic and lipidomic analyses, emphasizing interdisciplinary teamwork.
Her work spans biomarker identification, neurovascular unit dysfunction, and aging-related metabolic changes. Key collaborations include studies on CADASIL (cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy) and lipidomic profiling in aging populations. Dr. Poljak advocates for preventive strategies against dementia and emphasizes multidisciplinary approaches to unravel disease complexity.
Awards: None explicitly listed. Grants: Active projects include UNSW-funded dementia research and industry partnerships. Labs/Teams: Affiliated with CHeBA’s proteomics and lipidomics groups. Future Work: Expanding biomarker validation and exploring NAD+ metabolism in aging.
