Dr. Anne Petitjean is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Queen's University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. She holds a cross-appointment as an Associate Member of the Division of Cancer Clinical Trials at the Queen's Cancer Research Institute.
Education: B.Sc. in Physical Chemistry from École Normale Supérieure (Lyon, France), M.Sc. in Advanced Organic Chemistry from Université Claude Bernard (Lyon), and Ph.D. in Supramolecular Chemistry under Nobel Laureate Prof. Jean-Marie Lehn. Postdoctoral research at Caltech with Prof. Jacqueline K. Barton focused on DNA-targeting small molecules.
Research focuses on supramolecular chemistry, molecular recognition, and drug delivery systems targeting non-canonical nucleic acid structures like guanine quadruplexes. Key interests include 'smart' drug delivery for cancers and infections, and molecular design for targeted therapeutics.
Her work integrates organic synthesis, coordination chemistry, and dynamic systems to create bioactive molecules and advanced materials. Notable projects include metallomacrocycles for quadruplex recognition and stimuli-responsive drug delivery mechanisms.
