Anne McCabe

Anne McCabe serves as Lecturer at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, where she is Primary Instructor for BIO145: Phage Discovery (Fall 2024). This course, part of the HHMI Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program, engages 9 freshmen in hands-on phage isolation using Gordonia rubripertincta as host bacterium through 6 weekly contact hours.

Her research centers on bacteriophage genomics and evolutionary science, integrating undergraduate discovery-based learning with genomic analysis. Through SEA-PHAGES, she cultivates student research skills in phage characterization, bioinformatics, and microbial ecology within a national collaborative framework.

Dr. McCabe actively participates in the SEA-PHAGES community network, with scheduled involvement in upcoming initiatives including the 2025 Phage Genomics Workshop (December 12-16, 2025) and 2026 SEA Symposium (April 24-26, 2026), advancing science education through authentic genomic research experiences.
