Hyland's work develops a theoretical framework for analyzing Schubert's formal practices through an historicist approach, emphasizing parataxis in the Austro-Germanic tradition. Her publications explore rhetorical closure, editorial interventions, and the interplay of drama and lyricism in Schubert's compositions. Her research spans reception studies, historical context, and analytical methodologies.
Hyland's recent publications focus on Schubert's formal innovations in instrumental chamber works, reception history, and analytical frameworks. These studies highlight paratactic structures, deformation theory, and Austro-Germanic traditions.
