Anne M. Burton is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Texas at Dallas, affiliated with the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University (2021), an M.A. from Cornell (2018), and a B.A. in Economics and Government from Colby College (2012). Her research focuses on health economics, public economics, and the economics of crime, with an emphasis on spillover effects of risky behaviors and policy interventions.
Her work includes studying smoking bans' effects on alcohol consumption, particulate pollution's impact on fatal car crashes, and the unintended consequences of 'Ban the Box' policies. She has received awards such as the CTECH Dissertation Award (2019) and the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Honorable Mention (2015).
