Dr. Anne Lodge is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Teesside University's Department of Law, Policing and Investigation, part of the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Law (SSSHL). She holds a PhD from Durham University (2009) and a first-class LLB from Teesside University (2003). Her research focuses on criminal law theory, homicide, and legal responses to domestic abuse. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Criminal Law and Lawful & Unlawful Killing.

Her work examines the boundaries of self-defence, necessity, and duress, aiming to refine legal frameworks for victim justice. She served as an External Examiner at Northumbria University from 2013 to 2018.
Her research outputs explore topics like domestic abuse liability, manslaughter principles, and criminal justice system dynamics. She has supervised one student’s work and contributes to academic discussions on criminology, criminal law defences, and legal policy.
