Anne-Lise Sibony is a Professor of European Law at UCLouvain (Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium), affiliated with the Faculty of Law and Criminology and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research in Legal Sciences. She serves in multiple leadership roles including Vice-Dean for International Relations, Member of the Steering Committee of the Louvain Global College of Law, President of the Law Library Commission, and Representative of the SSH sector on the External Resources Management Committee.
Her research focuses on how the law integrates knowledge from other social sciences, particularly economics and behavioral sciences. She explores situations where law turns to external inputs and how the legal system transforms them, with current emphasis on consumer protection in the EU and the use of behavioral sciences to inform legislative action.
Professor Sibony's scholarly output demonstrates a clear evolution from traditional EU law topics toward increasingly interdisciplinary work that bridges legal scholarship with behavioral insights. Her publications reveal a growing focus on consumer protection in digital markets, behavioral approaches to regulation, and sustainability challenges like greenwashing and product obsolescence.
She has held significant academic leadership positions and contributes to major scholarly journals as a member of editorial boards for the Journal of Consumer Policy, European Journal of Risk Regulation, Cahiers de Droit European and Revue Quarterly of European Law. Her teaching includes EU Internal Market Law and European Consumer Law courses for master's level students.
