Anne-Laurence Caudano holds dual roles as Associate Dean of Arts and Professor of History at the University of Winnipeg. Her research focuses on medieval cosmological thought, Byzantine and Eastern Slavic cultural exchanges, and the intersection of science, religion, and art in late medieval manuscripts. She teaches courses on European medieval history, Byzantine Empire, and medieval sciences.
Her academic work explores topics like astronomical diagrams in Byzantine manuscripts, astrological practices in medieval political contexts, and Slavic cultural transmission through miscellanies. Recent publications analyze cosmological depictions in 14th–16th century manuscripts and the interplay between science and theology in late Byzantium.
Dr. Caudano’s scholarship bridges multiple disciplines: medieval art history, Slavic studies, and the history of science. Her analysis of manuscripts reveals how knowledge circulated across religious, linguistic, and political boundaries in Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean world.
