Dr. Laurence Garneau (she/her) is a Lecturer in the Department of Art History at Université du Québec à Montréal since 2021. Her research focuses on Early Renaissance Padua, particularly the political dynamics of the Veneto region and the agency of images in astrological frescoes from the 14th to 16th centuries, analyzed through anthropological, feminist, and materialist frameworks. She has received funding from the Fonds de recherche du Québec and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
Teaching includes courses such as ARTH 263 (History of Print), ARTH 364 (Renaissance Art), and ARTH 498 (Archeoastronomy). Her work explores intersections of art, science, and politics, with recent lectures at institutions like the University of Caen (2025), Trento University (2023), and McGill University (2022). She has also participated in symposia at the Warburg Institute (2018) and the Cini Foundation (2018).
