Anne-Laure Thiel is an Associate Professor at the University of Burgundy in Dijon, France. She conducts research in fundamental mathematics at the Institute of Mathematics of Burgundy (IMB) as part of the Geometry, Algebra, Dynamics, and Topology team and teaches at the Higher Institute of Teaching and Education (INSPE).
- Education: PhD in Mathematics (2006-2010, University of Strasbourg), Master 2 in Mathematics (2005-2006, Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg), Mathematics Aggregation (2004-2005), Master's in Mathematics (2002-2006, Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg).
Research Interests: Her work focuses on categorification, braid groups, Artin groups, virtual braids, Hecke and BMW algebras, quantum Schur algebras, knot theory, Khovanov homology, and virtual/welded knots. She explores algebraic and topological structures through diagrammatic methods and representation theory.
Article Trends: Her publications span quantum algebra, low-dimensional topology, and representation theory, with recurring themes in categorification techniques, braid group generalizations, and diagrammatic algebraic structures. Key collaborations include Paolo Bellingeri, Thomas Gobet, Loïc Poulain d'Andecy, and Marco Mackaay.
Scientific and Pedagogical Responsibilities: She has served on hiring committees, organized workshops (e.g., at Hausdorff Institute, HIM Bonn), and participated in PhD juries. She contributes to public outreach via science festivals and knot theory workshops, while supervising MEEF master's program tracks and serving on institutional commissions.
