Professor Anne Kerr is a Professor of Science and Technology Studies at the University of Glasgow, holding dual affiliations in the School of Social & Political Sciences and the School of Health & Wellbeing. She serves as Head of the School of Social & Political Sciences and has led a Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator Award (2015-2021) focused on personalized cancer medicine. Her research explores intersections of biomedicine, bioethics, and genomics, with a focus on patient experiences of health technologies and professional practices in bioscience.
Her research interests include Science and Technology Studies, Medical Sociology, and the ethical dimensions of genomic research. Notable publications address topics like cancer care during the pandemic, genomic techniques in chemotherapy decisions, and the sociological implications of personalized medicine. Professor Kerr teaches courses in the Sociology of Health and Illness and Research Methods, emphasizing qualitative methodologies and ethnographic studies.
