Anne Kaasen

Anne Kaasen is a Professor at Oslo Metropolitan University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing and Health Promotion, where she serves as Head of Studies. Her academic work focuses on obstetrics, gynaecology, midwifery, and related fields of maternal and child health.

Professor Kaasen's research interests span several interconnected domains within maternal health. Her primary areas include Obstetrics, Gynaecology and obstetrics, Midwifery, Fetal surveillance, Stress physiology, Ultrasound in pregnancy, and Psychological stress. Her work consistently examines the intersection of physiological monitoring during pregnancy and childbirth with psychological aspects of maternal and parental experience.

Her recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on evidence-based practices in maternity care, particularly examining fetal monitoring techniques, psychological responses to pregnancy complications, and breastfeeding outcomes. Professor Kaasen leads or participates in several significant research projects including the LISTEN project which performs research about fetal monitoring during labour and birth in healthy women with low risk of complications, and The Sofus study which examined the association between prenatal diagnosis of fetal anomaly and psychological stress in the parents after an ultrasound examination. Her work often involves interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers in obstetrics, psychology, and midwifery.
