Anne Hewitt is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at The Cooper Union, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. She holds a BA in Philosophy from Vassar College and a PhD from the Government Department of the London School of Economics. Her research bridges classical Greek political philosophy with interdisciplinary approaches, focusing on intersections of literature, history, and philosophy.
Dr. Hewitt has taught humanities courses globally, including NYC, Hanoi, London, Rome, and Florence. She has been a key faculty member of John Jay’s Prison to College Pipeline Program, teaching at correctional facilities in upstate New York and Italy. Her publications explore themes like Aristotle’s concept of epieikeia and poetry’s role in political theory. Currently, she is translating a seminal work on classical nonviolence.
