Anne Galperin is an Associate Professor and Director of the Graphic Design Program at the SUNY New Paltz Design Department within the School of Fine & Performing Arts. She holds a BSc in Education from Northwestern University and an MFA in Two-Dimensional Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her research focuses on graphic design history, book design, and wearable technology, with notable projects including studies of mid-century designer Betti Haft and collaborations with Cuban institutions like ISDi.
Teaching & Research: Teaches design theory, history, and research methods. Her creative work spans book design for institutions like the Walker Art Center and exhibitions exploring augmented wearables. She co-led a 2019 Cuba study abroad program integrating US and Cuban design students.
- Awards: Bookbuilders West Merit Award, Print Magazine Regional Design Award, and inclusion in the AIGA archive.
- Publications: Essays in Coverscaping (2009), Baseline Shift (2022), and Letterform Archive (2023).
- Exhibitions: Featured in Collective Consciousness (2021), showcasing augmented reality garments addressing data rights and criminal justice reform.
