Anne GOMBAULT is a Professor of Organizational Behavior and Strategic Management at Kedge Business School, where she directs the MSc Arts & Creative Industries Management in Paris and leads the French branch of the Franco-Chinese Institute of Arts and Design Management in Shanghai. From 2004 to 2020, she founded and directed Kedge's Culture and Creative Industries Center of Expertise, establishing herself as a leading academic in the intersection of business management and cultural sectors.
Her research spans several interconnected domains within cultural and creative industries. GOMBAULT focuses on organizational identity and strategy in arts and cultural organizations, examining how these institutions navigate complex governance structures and evolving market conditions. Her work on museum and heritage management explores contemporary challenges including digital transformation, crisis management (notably during the Notre-Dame fire and pandemic periods), and sustainable development. She has made significant contributions to understanding creative tourism patterns, particularly in wine districts and surf communities, analyzing how these creative regions develop and sustain their cultural and economic value.
Analysis of her publication record reveals a clear trajectory from cultural institution management toward broader sustainability and digital transformation themes. Her early work focused on specific case studies of cultural institutions like the Louvre, while more recent publications address global challenges including pandemic impacts on cultural spaces, sustainable development goals in higher education, and cross-national governance comparisons. This evolution demonstrates her ability to connect specialized cultural management knowledge with broader business and societal challenges.
GOMBAULT maintains active engagement with practical applications of her research through program direction and institutional leadership roles. Her work bridges academic theory with practical implementation in cultural management education and international institutional partnerships, particularly between French and Chinese cultural sectors.
