Anne Fadiman

Anne Fadiman is the Francis Writer in Residence and Professor in the Practice of Creative Writing at Yale University. A celebrated essayist and memoirist, she teaches advanced nonfiction writing and autobiographical courses. Her acclaimed book The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down won the National Book Critics Circle Award, examining cross-cultural medical conflicts.

Fadiman's research explores literary journalism and personal narrative forms. She received the Brodhead Prize for Teaching Excellence (2012) and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2015. Her recent works examine language evolution and personal identity.
