Anne E. Pfister is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of North Florida (UNF), specializing in medical and cultural anthropology. Her research explores human-insect relationships in Oaxaca, Mexico, and the sociocultural experiences of deaf children and families in Mexico City.

Recent publications (2024-2025) highlight intersections of environmental humanities, disability justice, and community-based ethnography. Her forthcoming book The Evidence is Life (Gallaudet University Press, 2025) examines deafness as a pilgrimage to language and community.
Anne mentors undergraduate researchers through immersive fieldwork and creative methodologies, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. She has taught globally in Mexico City, Cambodia, Colorado, Arizona, and Florida, emphasizing the interplay of biology, culture, and social justice.
