Anne Dunlop is a Research Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. Her work focuses on environmental and social determinants of maternal and child health, particularly in marginalized populations. She holds a BS from the University of Michigan, an MD from Mayo Medical School, and an MPH from Emory's Rollins School of Public Health.
Dr. Dunlop’s research investigates prenatal exposures to pollutants, psychosocial stress, and dietary patterns in relation to birth outcomes, neurodevelopment, and chronic disease risk. Key areas include phthalate/PAH exposure mechanisms, racial disparities in pregnancy outcomes, and the metabolic pathways linking environmental chemicals to adverse health effects. She leads studies within the NIH-funded ECHO consortium, focusing on African American maternal-child cohorts.
Her recent work highlights connections between environmental toxins (e.g., air pollution, PFAS, endocrine disruptors) and autism spectrum disorders, preterm birth, and child behavioral problems. Cross-cutting themes include metabolomics-based exposure assessment, intersectional health disparities, and methodological innovations in exposome research.
Dr. Dunlop collaborates extensively on projects addressing: (1) Black maternal health equity using biomarker data, (2) prenatal dietary interventions for autism prevention, (3) machine learning models for pregnancy risk prediction, and (4) policy implications of chemical exposure thresholds in vulnerable populations. Current initiatives prioritize community-engaged research to translate scientific findings into public health action.
