Anne Deckbar is a Researcher in the Department of American Studies at the University of Siegen, affiliated with the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 1472 Subproject A01 Series Politics of Pop Aesthetics: Superhero Comics and Science Fiction Paperback Novels. Her work explores archiving practices, canonization processes, and the role of digital fan archives in memory culture and pop aesthetics.
Her research interests include Comic Studies, Fan Studies, Digital Humanities, and Popular Culture. Recent publications analyze topics such as anti-fandom development in fanfiction, participatory culture, Shoah representation in superhero comics, and the economic implications of NFTs in comic collecting. She has presented her work in peer-reviewed book publications and working papers.
Anne Deckbar received her Master's degree in Literature and Media Culture from the University of Siegen in 2021. Prior to her current role, she held a doctoral fellowship at the HYT Young Academy (2020–2021) and worked as a student assistant and research fellow at Locating Media, Siegen.
