Associate Professor Anne Coffey is the Associate Dean (Secondary) in the School of Education at Edith Cowan University (ECU). With over 20 years of experience in secondary Health and Physical Education teaching, she has held district-level roles in the Department of Education, including Project Manager for Local Area Education Planning. Previously, she served in leadership positions at the University of Notre Dame Australia, such as Deputy Head of School. Her expertise spans education policy, teacher training, and student welfare.
Education qualifications include a Master of Counselling (2024), PhD (1999, ECU), Master of Education (1989, UWA), and Bachelor of Physical Education (1979, UWA). Her research focuses on student transition from primary to secondary school, early adolescent engagement, middle years leadership, and mental health in educational settings.
Awards: Recipient of national and international accolades, including the 2018 Innovative Education Initiative Award and 2016 Professional Service Award. Active in professional networks like the Australian Association for Educational Research and Association for Middle Level Education.
Current Supervision: Associate supervising a PhD project on transferable skills in arts education. Engaged in service-learning initiatives and curriculum development. Serves on committees for Adolescent Success and Children's University WA.
