Dr. Anne Berthold is a Lecturer and Senior Researcher at ETH Zurich's Department of Health Sciences and Technology, affiliated with the Institute for Environmental Decisions (IED). She holds a Diploma in Psychology from the University of Leipzig (1999–2005) and has held academic roles since 2004, including postdoctoral research positions at Friedrich Schiller University Jena (2005–2011) and the University of Zurich (2012–2020). Her research focuses on environmental psychology, scarcity perception, and contextual effects like color, with projects exploring climate protection, sustainable technologies, and consumer behavior.
Her work integrates behavioral science, sustainability, and social psychology. Recent studies examine gender differences in disgust sensitivity, the psychological impacts of the pandemic on medical education, and consumer responses to environmental labels. She teaches Consumer Behaviour at ETH Zurich and collaborates on interdisciplinary projects addressing climate change communication and technology adoption.
Berthold’s research consistently bridges theoretical insights with practical implications for sustainable practices and environmental decision-making. She has published extensively in journals like Journal of Environmental Psychology and Risk Analysis, with a focus on behavioral responses to scarcity, climate risk perception, and pro-environmental behavior.
