Annapurna Kumar is a Visiting Lecturer at UCLA's Department of Design Media Arts (DMA) and an adjunct faculty member in the Experimental Animation (EA) Department at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Her artistic practice explores themes of ecology, memory, fertility, and sensuality through experimental animation techniques, blending CGI, 16mm film, stop-motion, and mixed media. Her work has been exhibited globally at festivals like International Film Festival Rotterdam, London International Animation Festival, and institutions such as the Walker Art Center.
Her creative output includes short films, artist books, tapestries, and interactive installations, characterized by non-linear narratives and abstract visual language. Notable residencies include Yaddo and Film Farm, with her work featured in media outlets like AQNB, Pitchfork, and Dublab.
Labs/Teams: Active within UCLA DMA's academic and creative community, contributing to initiatives like the Art | Sci Center and Social Software projects.
