Annalisa Pastore

Annalisa Pastore is a Full Professor at King's College London since 2013, with a distinguished career in structural biology and biochemistry. Previously, she served as a Team Leader at MRC NIMR, Mill Hill, London (1997-2013), and held group leader and staff scientist positions at EMBL Heidelberg, Germany.

Her educational background includes postdoctoral work at the University of Oxford and fellowships at ETH Zurich and Wisconsin University.

Professor Pastore's research focuses on structural and functional genomics, NMR structure determination of proteins, bioinformatics, biophysical techniques, molecular dynamics, molecular biology and biochemistry, and structural biology. Her work has particularly emphasized understanding protein structure and function in relation to genetic diseases, with a focus on frataxin and its role in Friedreich Ataxia, as well as protein aggregation in neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's and Huntington's diseases.

Her publication record is impressive, with a total of 227 publications (202 peer-reviewed research articles and 25 reviews and book chapters), 7337 citations since 1987, and an h-index of 50. Her research spans protein folding, stability, iron-sulfur cluster formation, and structural determinants of neurodegenerative diseases.

She has organized numerous scientific meetings including three EMBO workshops, CCPN meetings, and specialized workshops on Iron-Sulfur clusters.
