Anna Triandafyllidou

Anna Triandafyllidou holds the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Migration and Integration at Toronto Metropolitan University since 2019 and serves as Scientific Director of the $98.6 million Bridging Divides project funded by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund. An internationally renowned migration expert, her work shapes global policy debates on migration governance, asylum systems, and cultural integration.

She earned her PhD from the European University Institute (1995), with prior appointments including the Robert Schuman Chair at the European University Institute, London School of Economics, College of Europe in Bruges, and Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche in Rome. Her Fulbright Scholarship at NYU (2001) further solidified her transnational research profile.

Triandafyllidou's research pioneers critical intersections of migration governance, refugee policy, and identity politics. She established foundational frameworks for analyzing European multiculturalism, irregular migration pathways, and high-skilled migrant decision-making—bridging theoretical scholarship with real-world policy implementation across governmental and intergovernmental contexts.

Her CERC center houses the BMO Lab and Data & Methods Lab, driving research on migration governance, labor mobility, urban integration dynamics, and political narratives through interdisciplinary collaboration with policymakers and civil society.
