Anna Spathis is an Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge’s Department of Public Health and Primary Care within the Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine. She combines academic work with clinical practice as an honorary palliative medicine consultant in the Cambridge Breathlessness Intervention Service at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Her career spans over a decade in NHS palliative care, and she serves as Specialty Director for the palliative care clinical course and Academic Lead for the East of England Specialty Training Committee.

Her research focuses on brief, community-focused complex interventions to manage intractable symptoms like breathlessness and fatigue in long-term conditions. She also develops educational tools for health professionals to enhance symptom management through structured treatment frameworks. Additionally, she leads postgraduate education on chronic breathlessness and contributes to professional training programs.
