Anna Sophia Habib is a Professor in the Department of English at George Mason University, serving as Associate Director of Composition and English department liaison to INTO Mason. She specializes in multilingual writing, second language writing, translingualism, trauma studies, and feminist rhetorics. Her roles include managing undergraduate composition courses for multilingual students and coordinating writing programs for international pathway students.
Dr. Habib earned her B.A. in English with a Cultural Studies concentration, MFA in Creative Nonfiction, and PhD in Writing & Rhetoric, all from George Mason University. Her research focuses on pedagogical innovations in multilingual education, international academic exchanges, and the intersection of rhetoric with cultural and feminist studies.
Her recent work explores language policies in global academic contexts, equity in international writing programs, and African contributions to writing research. She has co-edited volumes on transnational writing practices and serves as an Associate Editor for the WAC Clearinghouse's International Exchanges series.
Recipient of the 2020 University Teaching Excellence Award, her scholarly contributions bridge theory and practice in second language writing instruction. Current projects include editing an upcoming collection on African writing research and advancing translingual pedagogical frameworks.
