Dr. Anna Rodrigues is an Academic Associate and Director of the Educational Studies Program at the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education, Ontario Tech University. She holds a PhD in Education (Language, Culture & Teaching) from York University and an MEd from Ontario Tech University. Her research focuses on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) through arts-infused pedagogy, community-based research, and social justice education. Key areas include the role of street art in fostering critical consciousness, decolonizing curricula, and leveraging digital media for inclusive learning environments.
Dr. Rodrigues has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate, graduate, and college levels, designing courses on EDI, digital literacies, and media studies. She has secured over $143,768 in research funding, leading projects such as 'The Art of Change: Developing Students’ Critical Consciousness through Social Justice Street Art' and co-investigating initiatives like 'Indigenizing Curricula in Media Programs.' Her work emphasizes practical applications of theory, including open educational resources (OERs) for Indigenous literature and Design Justice principles in online course design.
Her awards include the Mary McEwan Memorial Award (2018) and recognition for Outstanding Faculty Research (Durham College, 2016). She serves on the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington Board and actively engages in public scholarship through social media (@annarodrigues_ca) and platforms like The Conversation and Now Magazine.
