Dr. Kenneth Gyamerah is an Assistant Professor at Ontario Tech University's Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education. He holds a PhD in Education from Queen's University, an MSc in Education Policy from the University of Bristol, and a BEd from the University of Education, Winneba (Ghana). His research focuses on decolonizing education, equity in STEM/STEAM for marginalized youth, African Indigenous knowledge systems, and anti-colonial methodologies. He previously served as Research Coordinator at the Toronto District School Board leading anti-hate initiatives. Dr. Gyamerah has authored 30+ peer-reviewed publications and presented globally at conferences such as AERA and CIES.
His work bridges theory and practice through initiatives like curriculum development, policy reviews, and workshops on culturally responsive pedagogy. Awards include the Chevening Scholarship and IDRC International Doctoral Research Award. He advises on education equity through research consultancies, workshops, and speaking engagements addressing topics like Afrocentric education and social justice.
Key contributions include technical reports for TDSB on Black student achievement and pandemic impacts on education. His research emphasizes amplifying marginalized voices through decolonial frameworks, with recent focus areas including emergency remote teaching during the pandemic and global educational leadership challenges.
