Anna Pujadas is an Associate Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), affiliated with EINA, the University Centre of Design and Art. She teaches in the Bachelor's of Design and Master's Degree in Design of Spaces (MUDE) at EINA, and also in the Faculty of Communication Studies at UAB. Her research centers on Care Design and generative digital practices.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Art History from UAB (1998), Graduate degrees in Art History (1990) and Philosophy (1992), a Master's in eLearning (2020), and a Graduate in Graphic Design and Digital Creation (2023).
- PhD Art History (UAB, 1998)
- MA eLearning (UOC, 2020)
- BA Graphic Design (UOC, 2023)
- BA Art History (UAB, 1990)
- BA Philosophy (UAB, 1992)
Pujadas' research explores design as a practice of care that maintains, perpetuates, and repairs the world through relational networks. She develops generative design using code (p5.js) to create human-like digital outputs, and integrates Japanese kintsugi philosophy into sustainable design. Her work bridges physical and digital realms, emphasizing ethics of care in technological innovation while addressing environmental and social challenges through hybrid material experimentation.
Her 2022-2023 publications reveal a cohesive trajectory across care ethics in design, cyber control in digital arts, architectural history (Jujol), and creative pedagogy. These works demonstrate interdisciplinary synthesis spanning design theory, digital humanities, art history, and education, with consistent focus on relational frameworks and ethical imperatives in contemporary design practice.
She leads the CURE&CARE DESIGN research line at SGR Design, health and wellbeing (EINA/UAB), and coordinates the international ARDES Erasmus+ Programme funded by the European Commission. Her research has received support from AGAUR (Catalan agency) and MINECO (Spanish ministry) for projects including 'Design processes: innovative practices in art & design' and 'The generation of knowledge in artistic research'.
As former Director of EINA (2017-2019) with continuous teaching since 1997 across UAB, UPF, and MECAD-URL, she has shaped design education through roles including Research Coordinator and Masters Coordinator. Her current work emphasizes physical-digital hybrid workshops where students transform natural elements into digital designs, advancing her vision of 'repairing the world' through care-centered design.
