Anna Mukamal is a PhD candidate and Lecturer in the Department of English at Stanford University. She holds an M.A. (Stanford, 2019) and B.A. (Duke, 2017) in English. Her work bridges literary studies with psychotherapy, digital humanities, and activism.

Research focuses on 20th-century literature’s intersection with therapeutic culture, using feminist/critical race studies, digital humanities, and narrative medicine to reframe literary history. Key themes include marginalized groups’ access to literary spaces and the ethical implications of therapeutic reading practices.
Publications appear in Digital Studies, Synapsis, and Cambridge/Edinburgh companions. She co-directs the Madwoman and the Institution reading group and teaches Mental Health and Literature, linking literary analysis to contemporary mental health discourse in academia.
