Anna Maria Irrgang

Dr. Anna Maria Irrgang is a Coastal Geomorphologist at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) within the department of Polar Terrestrial Environmental Systems. Her research focuses on Arctic coastal dynamics, permafrost processes, and interactions between land and ocean systems in coastal zones. She holds roles as the GTN-P Executive Director and a member of the WMO Global Cryosphere Watch Steering Committee, emphasizing her leadership in cryosphere research and data governance.

Her expertise in research data management supports global initiatives, ensuring scientific findings are systematically archived and shared. Based at AWI’s Potsdam site, she contributes to long-term observations and interdisciplinary projects addressing climate change impacts in polar regions.
