Dr. Anna Majury is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Queen's University, Faculty of Health Sciences. She holds cross-appointments as an Assistant Professor at the Translational Institute of Medicine (TIME) and the Beaty Water Research Centre, and serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Environmental Studies, Faculty of Arts and Science. Dr. Majury is a practicing Clinical Microbiologist with Public Health Ontario, focusing on infectious disease diagnosis and public health initiatives.
Her academic qualifications include a DVM from the University of Guelph, an MSc in Veterinary Immunology and Infectious Diseases (also Guelph), and a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Queen's University. She trained as a Clinical Microbiologist at the University of Toronto and completed a CIHR Fellowship at Queen's.
Research interests center on One Health, particularly the interplay between animal, human, and environmental microbial systems. Key areas include respiratory viral infections, pandemic preparedness (e.g., influenza), environmental microbiology, zoonotic diseases, and water safety. She co-chairs the Canadian Drinking Water Working Group and advises the Water Research Center at Queen's.
Dr. Majury actively contributes to public health through roles such as Chair of Ontario’s pandemic laboratory planning group and membership in the national Pandemic Influenza Laboratory Preparedness Network. She is also a Federal Field Epidemiologist with PHAC and supports global health initiatives via Veterinarians Without Borders.
