Anna Lisa Tota serves as Vice Rector of Roma Tre University since July 13, 2022, with delegation for Third Mission coordination, and holds the position of Full Professor in the scientific-disciplinary sector SPS/08 (Sociology of Culture and Communication). She teaches Art Sociology, Communication Sociology, and Music Sociology at Roma Tre while concurrently serving as Gastprofessor (Visiting Professor) of Sociology of Advertising at Universität St. Gallen since 2015.
Her research centers on memory studies—particularly public memory surrounding Italian terrorist attacks—with significant contributions to art sociology, music sociology, visual studies, gender studies, and communicative process ecology. This interdisciplinary focus manifests across her 150+ scientific publications, which critically examine cultural institutions, collective memory frameworks, and socio-communicative dynamics in contemporary society.
Tota demonstrates extensive leadership in academic governance: she served on Roma Tre University's Academic Senate (2019-2022) and Balance Sheet Committee, currently sits on the Foundation Castello Board of Trustees (since 2020), and previously chaired European Sociological Association networks including 'Sociology of Culture' (2009-2011) and 'Sociology of the Arts' (2001-2003). Her institutional impact extends to coordinating the Italian Association of Sociology's 'Processes and Cultural Institutions' section (2014-2017) and directing 'Roma Tre News' university journal (2007-2018).
