Anna Johnson

Anna Johnson is a Lecturer at Kingston University, affiliated with the Kingston School of Art within the School of Arts, Culture and Communication, and the Department of Humanities. She teaches on MA Creative Writing and MA English Literature modules, integrating her research into pedagogy.

Her research centers on life-writing, particularly the intersection of motherhood with themes of haunting, presence and absence, repetition, and spectral theory. Her work critically engages with chronic illness, disability, failure, and anecdote as epistemological and aesthetic tools.

Her writing often blends autotheory with literary form, focusing on affective and embodied dimensions of motherhood. The recurring motifs include care, failure, transition, and the materiality of memory, situating her work at the intersection of creative writing and critical cultural theory.
