Anna Jensen serves as Director of Orchestra and Affiliate Artist in the School of Music at the University of Puget Sound, while also instructing at Pacific Lutheran University and serving as Executive Director of the Tacoma Youth Symphony Association. Her summer engagements include teaching at the Evergreen Music Festival and Hammond Ashley Bass Workshop.
Her academic credentials include a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) and Master of Music (MM) from the University of Michigan, where she was a graduate student instructor, and a Bachelor of Music (BM) from Central Washington University.
Dr. Jensen's professional focus centers on music education, orchestral conducting, and double bass performance, with significant contributions to contemporary music through world premieres of new chamber works. She actively conducts regional honor orchestras and summer festival ensembles across the Pacific Northwest.
Her accolades feature the American String Teachers Association's Outstanding Master Studio Teacher Award (WA Chapter), the Washington State Music Educators Association Friend of Music award, and victories in the Spokane Allied Arts Young Artist Competition and Helen Snelling Crowe Competition.
Dr. Jensen directs the University of Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra, Tacoma String Philharmonic, and Annie Wright Schools orchestras while serving on the Pierce County Arts Commission, Tacoma Public Schools Equity Review Team, and International Society of Bassists Finance Committee. Her performance career includes principal bass roles with Symphony Tacoma, Tacoma Opera Orchestra, and Tacoma City Ballet Orchestra.
