Anna Helmke is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University. Her expertise lies in financial markets, financial intermediation, and portfolio theory with a focus on ETFs. She holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an M.Sc. in Financial Economics from the University of Oxford, and a B.S. in Economics from Maastricht University.
Her research explores bond market volatility, index investing dynamics, and the competitive landscape between ETFs and mutual funds. Collaborations include policy engagements with the European Central Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Key awards include the 2024 QCGBF Young Economist Prize finalist recognition and the 2022 Jacobs Levy Fellowship in Quantitative Finance.
Her work bridges academic research with practical policy implications, addressing structural shifts in financial markets and institutional investor behavior.
