معرفی
Anna Haensch is a Lecturer at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a Data Scientist I at the Data Intensive Study Center, Provost’s Office, both at Tufts University. She holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Mathematics. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Wesleyan University (2013) and a B.S. from SUNY New Paltz (2007). Her career includes tenure as an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Duquesne University (2020) and a visiting scientist position at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics. She transitioned to industry as a data scientist before joining Tufts in 2021.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Wesleyan University, 2013
- B.S. in Mathematics, SUNY New Paltz, 2007
Research Interests: Intersection of mathematics and social sciences, focusing on data-driven solutions for equity, sustainability, and safety. Key areas include police accountability (co-director of the SToPA Lab), offshore wind infrastructure, vaccine hesitancy modeling, and ethical data practices. Recent work emphasizes causal inference, policy analysis, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Publications Trends: Her work bridges theoretical mathematics (e.g., quadratic forms, hyperbolic geometry) and applied data science, addressing societal challenges. Recent articles highlight police accountability frameworks, renewable energy modeling, and opinion dynamics in polarized environments.
Awards:
- AAAS-AMS Mass Media Fellowship (2013)
Grants & Labs: NSF-funded projects on offshore wind infrastructure and human behavior modeling. Co-director of the Small Town Police Accountability (SToPA) Lab. Active in interdisciplinary grants merging public policy, engineering, and mathematics.
Teaching: Courses include Data Science for Global Applications and Mathematical Aspects of Data Analysis, emphasizing contextual learning for law and diplomacy students.
