Anna Gitter

Dr. Anna Gitter is an Assistant Professor at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences, with a focus on the El Paso campus. She earned her B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Michigan and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Water Management & Hydrological Science from Texas A&M University.

Her research centers on water resource management for public health, emphasizing community engagement and human health risk modeling to interpret environmental exposures. Key projects include public health preparedness via wastewater epidemiology, climate change adaptation health effects, and advancing health risk modeling methodologies. She is affiliated with the Center for Health Equity and serves on the El Paso Water Public Service Board for a four-year term.

Dr. Gitter’s work integrates environmental data with public health decision-making frameworks, addressing disparities and sustainability through technical assessments and stakeholder collaboration.
