Anna Furse is a Professor in the Department of Theatre and Performance at Goldsmiths, University of London. She directs the MA in Performance Making, co-directs the interdisciplinary Centre of the Body, and serves on Goldsmiths' Academic Board and Council. Her research focuses on the intersection of performance, medicine, and the body, including topics like trauma, touch practices, death, and anatomical interiority.
- Education: BA in Drama and French (University of Bristol, 1976), PGCE in Drama (Goldsmiths, 1978), PhD in Performance and Medical Imagery (Leeds Metropolitan University, 2011)
Her work bridges art and science through collaborations with institutions like the Wellcome Trust and EU-funded projects. Notable roles include co-directing the Performance Studies Laboratory PeARL and serving on the Advisory Board of Digital Theatre Plus. She has produced over 55 performances internationally, including Augustine (Big Hysteria) and SEA/WOMAN.
