Anna Belogurova is a historian specializing in modern East Asian political and social history. She holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia (2012), MA from Chengchi University (2003), and BA from Moscow State University (1998). Currently affiliated with Freie Universität Berlin as GEAS POINT Fellow (2014-2016), she has held positions at institutions including Brown University (Visiting Assistant Professor, 2014-2015) and Nanyang Technological University (Postdoctoral Fellow, 2012-2013). Her research focuses on transnational communist movements, Cold War dynamics, and environmental history in East Asia. Notable projects include studies on the Comintern’s influence in Southeast Asia and China’s coal industry during the Sino-Eastern Bloc alliance. She has authored books and peer-reviewed articles on topics such as the Malayan Communist Party, Taiwanese communist networks, and Soviet-Chinese collaboration. Her work bridges local case studies with global historical contexts, emphasizing archival research from Russian and Chinese sources.
