Dr. Anna B. Plunkett is a Lecturer in International Relations at King's College London's Department of War Studies, part of the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. She holds a PhD from King's College London (2021) and degrees from the University of York (MA in Post-War Recovery Studies, BA in Politics and Economics).
Her research focuses on local elites' roles in regime transitions, particularly in Myanmar. Key areas include norm contestation in ASEAN's response to the 2021 coup, democratization challenges, and protracted conflicts in Southeast Asia. She combines academic work with strategic consulting and human rights research in post-conflict zones.
Her recent publications analyze ASEAN's diplomatic responses to Myanmar's political crises and democratization's role in preventing crimes against humanity. She frequently contributes to media discussions on Myanmar's political developments, appearing in The Conversation, Asia Times, and specialized journals.
Plunkett co-authored a paper with Prof. Oisín Tansey on ASEAN's anti-coup norm struggles and presented widely on topics like Myanmar's ceasefire failures and Tunisia's police reform challenges. She participates in King's Research Centre in International Relations (RCIR), focusing on security and conflict dynamics.
