Dr. Oisín Tansey is a Professor of International Politics at King’s College London, affiliated with the Department of War Studies and the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. He holds an MA from Cambridge and a DPhil from Oxford. His research focuses on authoritarian politics, democratization, and post-conflict peacekeeping. He has led major grants, including an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship and a €1M ERC project on authoritarianism. He teaches research methods and supervises PhD students in democratization, autocracy promotion, and peacebuilding. His work explores how international factors shape authoritarian regimes and post-conflict outcomes. Key projects include examining UN peacekeeping’s role in democratic/non-democratic transitions and the impact of autocratic linkages on regime survival. He is a leading scholar in conflict, security, and development studies, contributing to influential journals and books on topics like anti-coup norms, post-Cold War military dynamics, and peacebuilding challenges in the DRC.
