Anna Arons is an Assistant Professor of Law at St. John’s University School of Law. She teaches courses in evidence, criminal law, and family law. Her research focuses on government regulation of families, parental rights, and intersections of race, poverty, and gender. She contributes to legal scholarship through publications in top journals like the Columbia Law Review and has been cited by major media outlets.

Research & Professional Work: Professor Arons previously served as Acting Assistant Professor of Lawyering and Impact Project Director at NYU’s Family Defense Clinic. At St. John’s, she continues this work through the Family Defense Clinic. Before academia, she was a public defender at the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, advocating for parents facing government intervention. She clerked for Judge Andrew L. Carter of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
