Dr. Ann Smith serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Nursing at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SWAU). She has a distinguished career spanning military nursing, academic teaching, and pediatric healthcare innovation. Previously, she developed a nationally accredited pediatric nurse residency program at Cook Children's Medical Center.
Education: Hospital diploma from Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing; BSN and MSN from University of Hawaii at Mānoa; PhD in Nursing from Texas Woman's University; and an MS in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University.
Research interests include pediatric nursing education, healthcare workforce development, and integrative approaches to patient care, blending clinical expertise with spiritual healthcare principles. Her 2019 publication in the Journal of Nursing Measurement focuses on tool development for clinical assessment. She currently peer reviews for this journal.
Awards include the National League for Nursing's 2014 Leadership in Workforce Development and recognition as one of the 2016 DFW Great 100 Nurses. Active memberships include Sigma Theta Tau International, NAPNAP, and Spiritual Directors International.
