Dr Ann McCluskey is a part-time Tutor at the Centre for Cultural Policy Research (CCPR) within the University of Glasgow's College of Arts, affiliated with the Theatre, Film & Television Studies department. She is a PhD candidate supervised by Professors Philip Schlesinger and Raymond Boyle and Dr Inge Sørensen. Her research examines Scottish public service broadcasting, focusing on cultural nationalism and national identity in factual television programming. She holds a Master’s in Cultural and Media Studies (Open University, 2009) and an undergraduate degree in Drawing and Painting (Edinburgh College of Art/Heriot-Watt University, 1987).

Her research interests include the intersection of television, art history, and national identity, particularly in Scottish contexts. She critiques how public service media shapes democratic ideals through 'reflecting' and 'representation' roles. Recent work includes a 2023 paper on digital creative economy policy futures, co-authored with experts from Glasgow and Sydney.
Teaching roles include assisting on the MSc in Media Management and lecturing on the MSc in Creative Industries and Cultural Policy. She has also contributed to cultural panels on media democracy and post-troubles Belfast cultural policies.
